Montessori Academy at Spring Valley (MASV), located on 14 acres of wetland preserve between Tacoma and Seattle, Washington, has an opening for an exceptional person who can help lead our school in what can only be termed a complete rebirth. We are seeking a guide to co-teach between our Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary/Middle School classrooms.
MASV was the first Montessori school in the Pacific Northwest, founded in 1951 by Mrs. Madeleine Justus who lived to be 99 ½ years old. We still have her original hand-written albums! This year, new management has arrived to MASV (AMI-trained), and a process is underway to breathe new life into these beautiful old bones.
The ideal candidate will have:
-AMI or AMS training
-At least 3 years experience in the classroom
-Great flexibility
-Unshakable sense of humor
-Deep reservoirs of kindness and patience
-The desire to be part of a rebirth, in all its glorious mess
-Strong connection to nature
-Adventurous approach to outdoor physical activity (read: dodging blackberry thorns in the rain)
Salary: $70,000 for 10 months
We pay 96% of health insurance.
