Elementary Guide

Childpeace Montessori is seeking an Elementary Guide to join our Elementary Program beginning August 2021.

The Elementary Guide will lead an established classroom with 25 students alongside a supportive Assistant. This position works within the Elementary Program that consists of three Lower Elementary Classrooms, three Upper Elementary Classrooms, a Physical Education Instructor, Spanish Instructor, and an Elementary Program Director.

Work hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. during the school year with occasional evening and weekend commitments. This position is salaried, exempt, and benefit-eligible (medical, dental, and vision insurance, and more). The wage range for this position depends on experience and begins at $55,000 on an annual basis.

Our ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree, AMI Elementary Montessori Certification, and Montessori Elementary classroom experience. They possess strong communication and organizational skills, embrace professional teamwork and collaboration, and bring a kind spirit to the important work of building relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. Art/music abilities, physical education/movement skills or facility with Spanish language are helpful supportive skills.

Our staff work with hundreds of toddlers through adolescents in their educational journey every year. Childpeace’s classrooms offer a beautiful, vibrant environment in northwest Portland, three blocks from the Willamette River near several urban parks, walking trails, and restaurants. Our school is located within several blocks of major bike and bus routes with many staff commuting by bike and bus.
