Arbor Montessori School is accepting applications from candidates interested in working in its adolescent program. The school, located just outside the city of Atlanta, is in its 52nd year and serves ~250 students from 18 months to 14 years. The adolescent program, founded twenty years ago, supports forty 7thand 8th-grade students.

This position offers an opportunity to be part of a closely collaborative team of guides in a program that strongly follows the Montessori philosophy and tenets, providing an environment that responds to the needs of adolescents and supports their development. Adults and students function as a community of learners in an atmosphere of mutual respect and support. Students participate in class businesses and experience various aspects of economics, from production and exchange to marketing, advertising, customer service, and more. Driving this “micro-economy” are practical endeavors such as working in the garden, keeping bees, and preserving our watershed, which provides context and meaning for challenging academic work and offers opportunities for leadership and authentic responsibilities within the community.

The position includes a very competitive salary plus benefits. Teachers have the opportunity to serve on the Board of Trustees on a rotating basis. Applicants should have a minimum of a BA. They should either have participated in or be willing to participate in the AMI Montessori Orientation to Adolescent Studies or the AMI 12-18 Diploma Course. Experience teaching adolescent students is required; Experience working in a Montessori setting is preferred.
