We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic assistant to support an AMI-trained guide in our multi-age Montessori classroom for children ages 3–6. This role is ideal for someone passionate about early childhood education, eager to learn, and committed to fostering a nurturing, engaging, and prepared environment for young learners. The Primary assistant plays a vital role in maintaining the classroom environment, observing and supporting children, and facilitating activities that encourage independence, curiosity, and a love for learning. This is a hands-on position that requires flexibility, collaboration, and a deep respect for the Montessori philosophy.

Key Responsibilities:

Observing, supervising, and supporting children

Refreshing, sanitizing, and resetting the classroom environment

Assisting with material making (cutting, laminating, sewing)

Prioritizing classroom needs during class time

Supporting toilet learning with friendly reminders

Handling daily cleaning, food prep, and gardening

Leading small group activities (reading, singing, and movement games)

Required Qualifications & Attributes:

Minimum 6 ECE units; commitment to completing 12

Collaborative, flexible, and organized

Joyful attitude with a genuine respect for young children

Eager to learn and grow in a dynamic setting

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual (English/Spanish)

12+ ECE units or a Bachelor’s degree

Experience in Montessori primary environments or working with young children

Knowledge of Montessori education

Physical Requirements:

Lift up to 40 lbs

Sit and move easily on the floor

Salary:

This is a non-exempt, full-time position. Start date is August 6, 2025. Hours are 7:30 am – 3:30 pm, Monday-Friday. Salary range is $25 – $30/hr. Salary and benefits package is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Crew receives hourly pay and benefits. The summer months are unpaid; however, additional summer employment opportunities include four weeks of summer camp.
