We’re seeking a passionate and experienced School Director to co-lead our team at Learning

Tree Montessori in Seattle, Washington. As the heart of our community, the director will embody

our commitment to the Montessori philosophy while expertly managing the administrative and

financial aspects of the school, in close collaboration with one Co-Director peer.

Responsibilities

The two co-directors will be responsible for the overall operation of the school, including but not

limited to:

● Educational Leadership & Program Oversight: Serve as the pedagogical leaders,

ensuring the school’s curriculum and practices are in strict alignment with authentic

Montessori principles. This includes regular classroom observations, providing

constructive feedback to teachers, and staying current with Montessori educational

developments.

● Administrative & Operational Management: Oversee all daily administrative tasks,

including student admissions, enrollment, and accurate record-keeping. You’ll manage

the school’s information systems and databases, ensuring all family and student data is

secure and up to date. This role requires a meticulous approach to administrative

processes to ensure the school runs smoothly and efficiently.

● Financial Management & Bookkeeping: Manage all financial operations, including

creating and managing the annual budget, processing tuition payments, and handling

payroll for all staff. Strong bookkeeping skills are essential for this role, as you’ll be

responsible for reconciling accounts, generating financial reports, and ensuring the

school’s financial health. Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks or

similar platforms is highly desirable.

● Staff Leadership & Development: Recruit, hire, and train all staff members, from lead

teachers to assistants and administrative personnel. You will also coordinate the faculty

work schedule and schedule subs when a Learning Tree faculty is absent.You’ll conduct

regular performance reviews, foster a culture of professional growth, and mediate any

staff conflicts. Your leadership will be key to maintaining a collaborative, respectful, and

highly professional work environment.

● Community & Parent Relations: Act as the primary liaison between the school,

parents, and the broader community. You’ll be responsible for all parent communications,

including newsletters, announcements, and scheduled meetings. Your role will involve

organizing and leading parent education nights, workshops, and school events to build a

strong, engaged school community. You will also launch Learning Tree’s standing parent

committees at the beginning of each year (e.g., Fundraising committee, Support

committee, Building committee etc.).

Qualifications

● Montessori Certification: A valid Montessori teaching certification from a

MACTE-accredited program is required.

● Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in a Montessori school setting, with

at least two years in a leadership or administrative role.

● Administrative & Bookkeeping Proficiency: Demonstrated, hands-on experience with

administrative tasks and a strong command of bookkeeping principles. The ideal

candidate will be adept at managing budgets, financial reporting, and using financial

software. Please provide specific examples of your experience in your cover letter.

● Passion for Montessori Philosophy: A deep and abiding passion for the Montessori

method and a genuine desire to work with young children and their families. This role

requires someone who is not just a manager, but a true advocate for the Montessori

approach.

● Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication

skills. You must be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of

stakeholders—from parents and staff to board members and community partners.

● Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Proven ability to make sound decisions under

pressure and to effectively solve complex problems. You should be resourceful,

proactive, and able to think critically.
