Counterpane Montessori School is accepting applications for an AMI-trained Elementary Guide for our Lower School for the 2022 – 2023 school year. The Elementary Guide will fill in for a teacher who will be on family leave. The Elementary Guide will lead a span class of lower and upper elementary students, between the ages of 6 to 12 years old. As the student population grows, two communities – the 6 to 9 years and 9 to 12 years configuration – will be adopted.
Situated on 14 beautiful, wooded acres with farm animals, nature trails, and organic gardens, Counterpane is a well-established school, which has been serving children at the primary, elementary, adolescent, and high school levels for close to 50 years. Along with its commitment to Montessori philosophy, Counterpane offers students a rich visual and performing arts program as well as seasonal outdoor nature activities.
The school calendar is a distinctive feature of the school and an attractive aspect of working at Counterpane. There are four 9-week quarters, with three 3-week breaks in between each, and a 7-week summer break.
The Elementary Guide will join and help build a strong school community of dedicated families, staff, and students. He/ she/ they will be motivated to create a joyful and vibrant Montessori environment in the Lower School that supports our mission to assist the development of students as academically and creatively engaged, community-sensitive, and responsible people who know themselves well.
The ideal candidate will hold an AMI diploma for Elementary (6 to 12 years of age) and will have experience working in an AMI elementary environment.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
