Director of Marketing and Communications

Richmond Montessori School (RMS) located in Richmond, Virginia, seeks a dynamic, experienced Marketing & Communications professional to join our growing Montessori community of approximately 60 employees, and 320 students ages 18 months-14 years old. For more than 55 years, RMS has provided an authentic Montessori education in a

child-centered environment while remaining true to its mission of inspiring academic excellence and nurturing human potential.

The Director of Marketing & Communications (DOMC) reports to the Head of School, serving as a member of the Administrative Leadership team and collaborating with

Faculty & Staff teams to identify and effectively support internal and external marketing and communications strategies that reflect the priorities of the school’s strategic plan. The DOMC is responsible for the oversight of the school’s brand platform, which includes marketing, advertising and public relations, and coordinates the creation and

implementation of timely communications for all areas of the organization.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proven experience in the effective use of electronic platforms for marketing and communication initiatives. Proficiency in use of MAC

software, Google apps, Adobe Creative Suite design software or other graphic design programs such as Canva, iMovie or other video editing platforms, WordPress/Joomla and

basic HTML. Proven photography and videography skills. Experience creating and analyzing surveys in SurveyMonkey is desirable.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong project management and collaboration skills. Attention to detail and accuracy, ability to problem solve, strong

interpersonal skills, exemplary work ethic, consistent follow through, demonstrates confidentiality and a commitment to teamwork, and approaches co-workers with respect

and dignity. Proven ability to exercise independent judgment in areas of responsibility.

Education, Training and/or Experience: Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or journalism. Minimum of five years’ experience in March 2022

the marketing/communications field. Highly proficient with technology and able to learn new technological programs quickly. Advanced knowledge or education in

graphic design, branding, writing, and editing for large school

communications/e-communications. Experience with independent school communications and/or the Montessori philosophy is desirable.

Physical Factors: Primarily an office environment, with the exception of carpool duties and

other needs as assigned. Ability to lift 35 pounds is required.
