Bowie Montessori Children’s House is currently searching for a creative guide to help coordinate and direct adolescent occupations on our three available local campuses. We need support for our farming, gardens of produce, sheep (and the many uses of wool), orchards of walnuts, apples for dehydration, persimmons for jelly, grapevines for wreaths, are just a few of the available opportunities for students.
Our historical home offers Maria Montessori’s extension for a Bed & Breakfast, where students serve breakfast for parents and visiting Montessorians and plan the tour of the trail of John Wilkes Booth for parents. The house, furnished in 1730’s and 1850’s antiques, provides the adolescent with the ability to be docents for the genealogical period of the occupants and do research at the local archives.
In addition, BMCH works with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in the Bay Grass Program. The students have the opportunity at the Chester River campus has also marine life and facilitate the prevention of the shore loss. The Chester River campus has also been evolving into a museum of farm implements for the last 20 years.
